Committee

Cathy Stoddart, (Chair) began quilting in the 1980s when her children were small in a Wandsworth Council Adult Education class taught by Mary Clare Clark.  Life took over for two decades but her passion was re-ignited in 2015 by joining another class taught by Maggie Barber.  Since then she has made dozens of quilts and attended many classes, both in-person and virtual.

Viv Philpot, (Treasurer) started making patchwork quilts in the 1990s and her work is informed by traditional quiltmaking. Patchwork allows Viv to express her love of fabric and colour. She mainly makes scrap quilts using many different fabrics, the more the better.

Annie Folkard, (Webmaster), encouraged by a quilting friend, started quilting in 2018, but in another life, has a textiles background from years ago. She came back from a 3 week holiday in Australia, where she went to the Australia Quilting Convention in Melbourne, obsessed, with 3 quilts ready to be sandwiched and quilted. No stopping her! In 2023 she got a quilt accepted in the UK Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Katy Judd (Membership) went to the V&A Quilt exhibition about 15 years ago with her mum and daughter. A few years later, she made a graduation quilt for her daughter after a day course which they did together. She recently started a City and Guilds course in Patchwork and Quilting which, along with joining SWLQ, has opened her eyes to more possibilities in design and technique.
